California Homicide Suspect Arrested In Las Vegas

Jovan Meeks, 21, a fugitive wanted in California by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office was arrested in Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s S.W.A.T. Unit and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

U.S. Marshals developed information that Meeks fled to Las Vegas and he was arrested in the vicinity of Carey Avenue and Nellis Boulevard.  Meeks was booked into the Clark County Detention Center pending his extradition to California.

District of Nevada U.S. Marshal Christopher Hoye stated, “This is yet another example of how our joint agency efforts are apprehending fugitives who think they can hide in the valley.
Homicide Investigators have completed numerous interviews and processed the evidence related to the April 16 shooting that left a Highland couple dead at the Parc Mountain View Apartments. On Friday, April 22, 2016 Investigators identified Jovan Meeks, 21, of San Bernardino as the shooter in this murder. They have obtained an arrest warrant for Meeks with a bail amount of $2,000,000.

Homicide investigators pursued numerous leads and conducted several interviews. On April 22, they identified Meeks as the shooter, seeking an arrest warrant with a bail set at $2 million.

Meeks was traced to Las Vegas, Nevada, arrested on Thursday, June 23.

Meeks had been taken into custody near East Carey Avenue and North Nellis Boulevard by Las Vegas Metro’s SWAT unit, along with a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

He was being held in Clark County awaiting extradition to San Bernardino County to face charges.

Cordell Jennings, 30, a fugitive wanted by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, was arrested June 16, 2016, Thursday afternoon by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Jennings and two other suspects are allegedly connected to the shooting of a woman outside of Skate Express in Chino, Calif.

Information was received that Jennings fled to Las Vegas. He was arrested near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Lake Mead Boulevard. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center pending extradition to California.

Nevada FIST is a permanent task force that brings together the resources and expertise of state, local and federal agencies in a coordinated effort to arrest dangerous and violent fugitives. Nevada FIST is led by the U.S. marshals and is comprised of deputy U.S. marshals and law enforcement officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Nevada Department of Public Safety and the Henderson Police Department.

Cepada Hilton, 34, a fugitive wanted in Georgia by the Atlanta Police Department was arrested May 3 in Las Vegas by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

A warrant was issued charging Hilton with murder. The charges stem from an incident in which Hilton allegedly shot a man during a verbal altercation causing his death.

U.S. Marshals developed information that Hilton fled to Las Vegas and he was arrested in the vicinity of Paradise Road and Desert Inn Road.

He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center pending his extradition to Georgia.
